1 Fees and courses1. A "Course" means an enrolment or period of tuition, for one person even if different programmes are chosen during the course. 2. Fees should be paid in full before a course or an extension to a course begins. Lake Wanaka Language Centre (LWLC) can only guarantee a place after fees have been paid in full. 3. Fees must be paid for complete weeks. If students wish to attend for just part of a week, they must pay the fees for the complete week. 4. LWLC will discuss your level with you but we decide which class or level is appropriate. If you have registered to enrol you can talk to us in the e-learning space. 2 Cancellations and refunds
(course/tuition)
1. If LWLC has to cancel a course
we will offer an alternative course or a full refund. 2. If you cancel: (a) Before the start of the course:
LWLC will refund all fees, except for registration fee. If payment has not been
received, we will charge the registration fee. (b) After the start of the course:
3. There is no refund of fees paid
for course extensions or for late entry to, absence from or early departure from
a course. 4. All fees are refunded if
learners living overseas cannot get a visa for 5. All refunds are made in NZ$.
LWLC is not responsible for any changes in the value of currencies or for
learners' bank fees. 3 Fee protection
All fees are placed in a trust account. LWLC can only receive this money
at times agreed with the learner. When you enrol and pay you must sign an application form from Public Trust. This includes details about length of course and fees paid. LWLC courses can be completed on a standard 3 month tourist visa and so do not normally need a international student visa. However, if you do require one, full details of visa and permit requirements, advice on rights to employment in New Zealand while studying, and reporting requirements are available through the New Zealand Immigration Service, and can be viewed on their website at http://www.immigration.govt.nz. You must present evidence of a valid passport and visa/permit before
your course start date.
It is against the law to study in New Zealand without a valid immigration visa or permit.
5 Privacy
6 Holidays
1. The Centre is closed on 2. At Christmas/New Year, the
Centre is closed for approximately 4 weeks, from the Monday before Christmas
until the 3rd Monday in January. 3. If learners wish to take a
holiday during the course, the Centre may move the fees paid to later dates.
Learners should read the information on holidays displayed at the Centre for
full details. 7 Code of PracticeLake Wanaka Language Centre has agreed to observe and be bound by the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students published by the Minister of Education. Copies of the Code are available on request from this institution or from the New Zealand Ministry of Education website at http://www.minedu.govt.nz/goto/international. 8 Accommodation
The accommodation arrangement fee will be charged for home stays. Other forms of accommodation cannot be arranged directly through Lake Wanaka Language Centre but we have assessed the providers on our websites to ensure they provide industry standard level of service. We can introduce you to the owner but all matters relating to the tenancy and to payment of rent/fees are entirely between learners and owner. Lake Wanaka Language Centre does not accept
liability for any incidents that happen outside the school. However, Lake Wanaka Language Centre, in line
with the Code of Practice, will only book learners with, or recommend,
accommodation providers that have been assessed for quality management and risk
management policies and that meet their industry standard. Homestay
fees:

If you are not happy about something at the Centre, you should talk to one of the directors first. If you cannot solve the problem, then you can talk to a mentor who speaks your language, which the school can arrange for you. If the problem still is not solved, you can get help from the New Zealand Qualifications Authority or the International Education Appeal Authority (IEAA). Please visit this webpage
